I've been in Derby for ever and never got round to trying this place, my loss.
I visited in April with my Goddaughter to celebrate her 22nd birthday.
We had a super evening, our waitress was friendly, relaxed and very knowledgeable about the food, which was excellent.
My crab starter had a real punch to it, and then the flavour of the crab came through, really quite extraordinary. The mains, belly pork and lamb were perfectly cooked and the wine well priced and good quality.
I had mentioned the birthday when I booked and the petits fours came on a plate with happy 22nd birthday painted on in chocolate which was a bonus and a surprise.
The setting in a converted Methodist chapel, complete with gallery and pulpit, is stunning. They have made the minimum alterations to good effect. If I was really picky I'd say the lighting was a tad too bright, but that really is being picky!
Thank you to everyone for a lovely evening, I'll be back.
